THE TRANSITION

WAR WAS EASY. COMING HOME WAS THE HARD PART.

Leaving the service is more than a change of clothes; it’s a profound shift in identity. The military gives you a unit, a mission, and a purpose. The civilian world—the “1st CivDiv”—often feels like a social desert where the stakes are low and nobody “gets” the dark humor or the shared shorthand of service.
We saw the void. We felt the isolation. We experienced the “mission deprivation” that leads to feeling lost. Colorado Warriors Hockey was born as a 501(c)(3) Disabled Veteran Ice Hockey Organization dedicated to those who served. We provide a space where the camaraderie of the unit is restored, and the “awkwardness” of civilian life disappears the moment the puck drops.

HOCKEY AS THERAPY

More Than a Game. It’s Weekly Therapy for the Rewired Brain.

Research shows that for veterans, physical exertion is only half the battle. The true healing happens in the locker room. We use the speed and intensity of hockey to ground the “rewired” brain, providing a constructive outlet for adrenaline while building a safety net of peers. Whether you are managing service-connected disabilities or simply looking for your people, this is where you strengthen both body and mind.

THE LADDER OF REINTEGRATION

OUR FOUR-TIER SYSTEM

We believe every veteran deserves a spot on the roster, regardless of their skating ability. Our program operates across four distinct tiers to ensure you’re competing at the right level for your physical and technical skill:

TIER I & II

Competitive, high-tempo play for seasoned skaters looking for the "adrenaline" of high-stakes tournaments.

TIER III & IV

Development-focused levels designed for veterans stepping on the ice for the very first time.

Active Duty in the Community.

Our mission doesn’t end at the buzzer. The Colorado Warriors are a family committed to our local community. We maintain an active outreach program, volunteering for local charities and raising funds for fellow veterans in need.
When we aren’t volunteering locally, we are competing nationwide against fellow Warrior organizations. These tournaments foster a sense of fellowship and lasting bonds that echo the teamwork found in uniform—proving that while the mission changed, the impact remains the same.
